How to put forth a motion, in between Intergroup meetings:
After putting it in the email, someone needs to second it. Then discussion starts. Usually there is a deadline of one or two weeks for discussion. After motion has been seconded, the member that brought up the motion (Author of motion) writes an email in the same thread stating motion has been seconded, we will now begin discussion. The deadline of discussing this motion will be ________(date given - approximately 10 days to 2 weeks).
After the discussion deadline, author that made the motion, writes another email asking for any “friendly amendments”. Anyone can make a "Friendly amendment".Author of motion may accept or decline a friendly amendment. After friendly amendments,
a group conscience takes place. Author tracks the votes.
Author then lets Secretary know if the motion passed or not via email. This email should be “cc’d” to all Intergroup members.
